Consistency with Eating and Exercising

In eating and exercising, is consistency one of the most important things?  Is it more productive to continuously exercise and keep approximately the same intake of calories on a regular basis. Or is it better to eat and exercise on an irregular schedule?

Food
Is it better to stay on a pattern of approximately the same amount of calories on a daily basis then to have large amounts of food (calories) one day and very little the next.  Is it better to fluctuate or to stay steadier when consuming food.  Is it better to eat all junk food one day and the next all vegetables or could it be better to introduce a better balance on a daily basis?  What would make my body feel better.  I have the belief that no low-nutrient dense food would make my body feel best.  Yet, I know, for me that I enjoy some ice cream once in a while.  I think what works best for me is to enjoy that ice cream but in an amount and timely manner that I feel good about; comfortable with.    I am going to strive to eat mostly good nutrient dense food on a regular basis with an average amount of calories.  If (it's probably really 'when')  I go off this, I'd like to just get back on the 'balance' wagon.

Exercise
Is it good for my body to exercise real hard for one day and then not 'move' for 6 days?  Would my body respond better if I exercise in an enjoyable, close to comfortable level and do it on a regular basis?  Let my body know that I will not sit down over time?  It can count on me moving and expending energy and building strength on a regular basis  (month in month out).   Is it possible I confuse my body if I work out strong for 3 consecutive days and then for four days do nothing?  Would my body be happier if I 'moved' every other day for one whole month and continue doing so.  Would it be a tease for my body to give it exercise 7 days and then nothing for two weeks.  I believe it would be.  This is what I choose to strive to do.

Eat and Exercise striving for continuous balance.

What makes your body happiest?  Can you give this to your body in a loving (you know you got this) way?
